Sarah Wilson Lamps Plus DBC Scholarship WINNER

Who am I? I’m Sarah Cleopatra Wilson and I’m… So many of us define ourselves by our jobs, our interests or our relationships and so I present myself to you.

I was born on St. Lucia, WI but grew up on St. Croix, USVI. My mother taught me to sew when I was in the first grade. Sewing means choosing fabric and to this day I have an obsession with fabric. I will often order memos because I want to revel in the possibilities it holds. Design is a thing I breathe in like air and I want my blog to reflect that. I want my readers to fall in love with design as well.

I took the long route to Interior Design but at 38 I plunged in full force. One of the things I heard was that blogging was a great way to attract clients so I started blogging. It took some time before I got into the swing of it but I can say I enjoy it. I write whatever I feel passionate about at the moment. I want to avoid writing the “10 ways to change your…..” I think outside the box and I want to things about that. The plans I make as I wander through rooms. How I see the possibility despite the current state of affairs.

Heading to Design Bloggers conference I hope to learn focus, consistency and how to attract people to my blog. I heard it was an amazing conference that could help me be a better blogger. I’m sure there are tons of ‘How to Be A Better Blogger” conferences but none of them are a part of the design community and that’s what sets this one apart. So I’m excited to network, learn and gain new perspectives for sharing with my readers.
